February 14th is just around the corner and whether you’re a glass half full or glass half empty kind of girl, we’re here to help. If you are female, single and ready to mingle, panic not. Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love but if you are without a special person in your life, just take a look around and you’ll just see how much love is always around you.
This V-Day, we’re here to make sure you take the time to shower yourself with gifts that’ll give you the TLC that you deserve. Hey, you never know- it could be your last Valentine’s Day single—so why not spend it focusing on you and the things which make you happy?
Now we know that some people will think you’ve gone crazy if you say you’re spending Valentine’s Day alone. But don’t be put off, such is life. Here’s the single girl’s guide to Valentine’s Day that will get any girl through this (sometimes) difficult day. And remember, just because you’re single, doesn’t mean that you’re alone.
Enjoy a relaxing spa day
Go out and treat yourself to a day at the spa with your girlfriends that are also blissfully single. Getting pampered from head to toe is the best way to remind yourself that you’re awesome, and that you don’t need a guy to validate that. It’s a hard life getting to enjoy all of these girly pampering sessions but hey, someone’s got to do it! C’est la vie, it looks like you’ll just have to live the dream without a man on your arm.
Plan a fun filled girl’s night out
Valentine’s Day is as good a day as any to get dressed up, put your glad rags on and hit the town with your girls! Why not wine and dine in a swanky, chic restaurant, head to the movies before getting your butt to a trendy little venue to dance the night away! Chuck in a few great cocktails and lots of laughs and banter and you’ll soon forget about being single. Women have to stick together and what better day to do so than Valentine’s!
Do what makes you happy
Maybe all of your friends are in relationships and it’s just you curled up on the sofa with your pet cat? Now we’ll say just now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that! Sometimes though you need a bit of ‘me’ time, tucked away inside and in the warm. If this sounds like your perfect night in, why not check out Netflick, grab a movie and order yourself in some delicious food. There’s something really satisfying about eating something naughty. And while you may end up regretting overindulging, to heck with it! Life is for living and doing what makes you happy and one night isn’t going to wreck your healthy eating plan for the whole month. And who really cares anyone? Go on, have a cupcake while you’re at it, you know you want to!
Borrow a man
Arrange a non-date with one of your single male friends. That way you get a flirtation fix and ego boost without any of the messy relationship baggage that goes along with it. And you never know, with all that love in the air you might discover there's more to your friendship than you realised
Be a karaoke queen
Apparently, singing releases endorphin's into the bloodstream much like those our bodies are flooded with when we fall in love. So why not hit a karaoke bar or host your own karaoke night at home? Haven't got Sing Star? What's wrong with cranking up the stereo and singing into your hairbrush? There will be no raised eyebrows here, sister!
Get away for the weekend
When all else fails, take the opportunity to get away! For the night, for the weekend or even longer! One of the best tactics of avoiding Valentine’s is to get the hell out of town! Whether you stay local or get away for some sunshine somewhere more exotic, kicking back, relaxing and unwinding is the perfect cure for pretty much everything! Mission accomplished!
Count your blessings
Couples might seem more loved up on than ever on Valentine's Day but that's only because they're shamed into it by Hallmark and Interflora. By the 15th February they'll be back into their old routine. You, on the other hand, are in control of your own destiny. Who knows what tomorrow may bring?
